P.E. 9 Grade: 9 Credit: 0.5 Length: Semester
Required Course
Content: This course is designed to provide students with the basic skills and information needed to participate in a variety of activities which are fitness based and maintain an active and healthy lifestyle. Students participate in pre- and post fitness assessments in which they measure and analyze their own levels of fitness based on the five components of physical fitness: muscular strength, endurance, cardiovascular fitness, flexibility, and body composition. The FITT Principle, five components of fitness, six-skill related components, FitnessGram assessments, and goal setting are integrated into the curriculum. Students will be expected to participate in classroom activities during each class period and must wear proper fitness attire.

Content: This course is a continuation of the freshman course with additional emphasis on team sports and body conditioning. This course is designed to provide students with the basic skills and information needed to participate in a variety of activities which are fitness based and maintain an active and healthy lifestyle. Students participate in pre- and post fitness assessments in which they measure and analyze their own levels of fitness based on the five components of physical fitness: muscular strength, endurance, cardiovascular fitness, flexibility, and body composition. Adaptive Phy Ed Grade: 9/10/11/12 Length: Semester
Content: Adapted physical education is instruction for students who are unable to participate in the regular physical education program. This includes individual instruction in movement concepts and motor skill development, depending on the student’s needs and capabilities.
