Students ranging from 6th grade through 8th grade are housed on the same floor in Huff Hall. At this age level we reinforce the fundamentals they have learned while on the elementary floor. More emphasis is put on accomplishing daily living skill in an independent manner, and more focus is given to improving the social skills needed at this age. Residential Advisors are ever present and available to assist students while they are changing both socially and physically in these crucial preteen years. At the middle school level, there are more opportunities for after school clubs and sports activities which help in the development of time management skills. By the end of their 8th grade year, our goal is that they will have the skills needed to make the transition to the more independent high school floor.
Activities/Daily Schedule
At the middle school level, WSD offers a wide variety of after school activities for our students. Such activities include but are not limited to sports, drama and Special Olympics. All students are allowed the time to attend religious services if they wish to do so. Students also enjoy their free time socializing with friends outside on our beautiful campus, or in the Firebird Recreational Center.
