Milmaglyn Morales
Center Director

 

Milmaglyn is a leader in Deaf education with more than 20 years of experience focused on early language access and bilingual-bicultural education. She serves as Center Director of the Wisconsin Educational Services Program for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.

 

She holds a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, a master’s degree in Special Education, and a Sixth-Year Certificate in Educational Leadership. Her career spans roles as an early childhood teacher, K–12 educator, early interventionist, and school leader, including serving as Principal of the Early Childhood Center at the Learning Center for the Deaf – Marie Philip School.

 

Milmaglyn is a certified Deaf interpreter and a dedicated advocate for early language access and equity for Deaf children and familie

Brian Fruits

School Business Director

Brian has served as DPI’s School Business Director since August 2017, bringing experience from state agencies and nonprofit organizations in Wisconsin. He holds a B.S. in Accounting from Gallaudet University and a Master of Public Administration from Marist College, along with certifications in Project Management and Certified Public Management from the University of Wisconsin–Madison.

 

With a career in business and management services since 1998, Brian has held leadership roles including Business Director, Financial Manager, and Bureau Director. His expertise includes budget development, fiscal reporting, purchasing compliance, inventory and surplus management, and program operations oversight.

Holly Berry
Superintendent of Facilities and Grounds

Holly began her career with DPI in 2011 at the Wisconsin School for the Blind and Visually Impaired, starting in food service. After holding several roles, she was promoted to Food Service Manager for both the Wisconsin School for the Blind and Visually Impaired and the Wisconsin School for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, where she worked closely with the Buildings and Grounds Superintendent.

 

Through this work, Holly gained experience in Wisconsin procurement and helped implement the STAR system, receiving hands-on training from DPI Business Services leadership. In 2017, following the retirement of the Buildings and Grounds Superintendent, she stepped into the role and has served as Buildings and Grounds Superintendent since.

Jeff Rawlings
Director of School Life

 

Jeff has served as Director of Student Life (Residential Dorm) at the Wisconsin School for the Deaf (WSD) since 2018. A proud WSD alumnus (Class of 1997), he began his career at WSD in 2002 and has dedicated more than two decades to supporting students and strengthening Student Life programs.

 

Jeff has held progressive leadership roles, including Residential Advisor, Work Leader, and Assistant Dean of Students. Throughout his career, he has helped establish the Dorm Support Services Team, strengthened collaboration between residential and academic staff, and partnered with the Health Center, Outreach Services, and other departments to deliver engaging student programs. He also oversees athletics and extracurricular activities in collaboration with the Athletic Director.

 

His professional focus includes supporting student transitions, fostering independent living and community integration skills, promoting student safety, and advancing Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS). Jeff also serves on the board of the National Student Life for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing and will serve as Conference Chair when WSD hosts the NSLDHH conference in June 2027.

Michael Melton
IS Supervisor

 

Michael holds an Associate Degree in Network and Server Management from Blackhawk Technical College, where he earned Honor Roll and President’s List recognition. He also holds multiple certifications in Cisco, Microsoft, and HP systems.

 

After gaining experience through contract positions across southern Wisconsin, Michael joined the Wisconsin School for the Deaf (WSD) in 2006 as a Tech Support LTE. He advanced through roles including Information Systems Support Specialist and Network Administrator, eventually becoming Information Systems Supervisor. In this role, he oversees campus-wide technology systems and supervises the Tech Department staff.

 

Michael is committed to maintaining and upgrading technology to support staff and student safety and to foster an effective learning environment. Following DPI restructuring in January 2025, the WESPDHH Tech Department transitioned to the Bureau of Information Technology Services (BITS), where Michael continues to serve as IS Supervisor, leading the on-site direct support technology team.

Leah Haag
Nursing Supervisor

Leah has worked as a nurse in the Wisconsin School for the Deaf (WSD) Health Center since 2008 and became Nursing Supervisor in 2022. She began learning ASL in high school and college and further developed her skills while working at summer camps for deaf children. Leah graduated from the nursing program at Blackhawk Technical College in 2007 and earned her BSN from Western Governors University in 2015.

 

Leah is an active member of the National Association of School Nurses for the Deaf and served on its board from 2015–2017. She has attended professional conferences at schools for the deaf across the country and is also a member of the Wisconsin Nurses Association and the National Association of School Nurses.
