Residential Life

In the event of an emergency after hours, please know that you can contact Krista Schwent at 262-728-7191 after hours. Your safety and well-being are of utmost importance to us.

WSD draws students from across the state, making it residential by necessity. Built in 1974, Huff Hall has been the home away from home for many deaf and hard of hearing students. Our goal, together with providing a safe and healthy living environment, is to help students become responsible and independent. The Student Life Staff (Residential Advisors) are ever mindful of their duty to supply the support and encouragement normally given to the children by their parents. They work to develop socially acceptable and healthy habits, guide them in learning proper personal hygiene, give them a hand with homework, and assist with time management.

Residential Advisors coordinate after school activities in order to promote the social, emotional, physical and educational growth of our students. We nurture our students outside the classroom to assist in the development of leadership and social skills, as well as fostering citizenship, sportsmanship, and good moral character.

Engage. Socially.
