Elementary School Activities

ASL Club

Students enjoy various activities related to ASL, including stories in ASL, ASL games, ABC stories,  and working on facial expressions, personification, classifiers, and depicting verbs (DV). Special holidays and related stories are also discussed each month.

Children’s Book Week

Children’s book week is a week when guests are invited to come to WSD and share stories in ASL with the students.

Field Trips

Our elementary students enjoy fun and educational field trips each year. Some of the recent destinations include Apple Barn, Aram Public Library, Delavan Police Department, Delavan Post Office, FFA Farm Tour, Milwaukee Museum, Piggly Wiggly, Skelly’s Farm Market, and Walworth County Sheriff Department.

100 Days of School

Each year the students celebrate 100 days of school with various activities.

Pep Club

Pep Club is an after school activity for elementary students (kindergarten – 5th grade) that offers younger students an opportunity to develop basic motor skills so they are better prepared to join WSD’s athletic teams in middle school. Students learn the concepts of teamwork, good sportsmanship, basic leadership, taking turns, and cooperation. Students also practice basic throwing, passing, catching, dribbling, skipping, kicking, and jumping skills.

Rhythm Club

Rhythm Club develops awareness of music and rhythm for students enrolled in kindergarten through fifth grade. Planned activities teach students about music, rhythm, dancing, and making music visual. Students in Rhythm Club are exposed to various forms of music, dance, and rhythmic instruments.

Valentine’s Day

The Valentine’s Day Dance is a tradition that allows our younger students to enjoy a day similar to homecoming or prom that is just for them. Students are crowned king, queen, prince, and princess. Dancing, the giving of valentines, and other fun activities are enjoyed throughout the day.
