Join us for an informative workshop as Ryan Odland shares his journey related to deafblindness and Usher’s Syndrome. Learn practical tips for working with children and adults with deafblindness.
Ryan Odland is a Regional Representative for the North Central region serving six states including Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, and Wisconsin. Ryan previously worked as a vocational rehabilitation counselor with Minnesota State Services for the Blind. Ryan, who is deaf-blind with Usher syndrome subtype 1, a proud husband and father of two young children. He holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Rochester Institute of Technology and a master’s degree in special education from Gallaudet University. Ryan is working towards his second master’s degree in rehabilitation counseling from the University of Wisconsin-Stout.

This workshop is a continuation of the workshop from 2020. Patti will provide an introduction to a variety of resources (reference, therapy, diagnostic) available for free, downloadable, and for purchase to get started.
Patti Smith, Educational Audiologist: Patti began her career as a Clinical Audiologist in a hospital setting, where she was involved in diagnostic evaluation and auditory rehabilitation of both children and adults. She previously has served as a Pediatric Cochlear Implant Audiologist and Pediatric Auditory Rehabilitation Therapist. She operated her own private auditory rehabilitation practice for many years, where she specialized in working with children and families using auditory-verbal and auditory-oral therapy methods. She has taught graduate-level and undergraduate-level courses in Audiology, and spoken at a variety of professional conferences. She currently is working as an Educational Audiologist at CESA 2.
