For many reasons assessing a deaf student is challenging, this workshop will provide ideas to work together to find the tools and resources you need to overcome those obstacles. Suggestions will be provided for working with a sign language interpreter during evaluations; ways to provide neuropsychological and psychological assessments for deaf and hard of hearing students across areas like learning, behavior, social skills and emotional functioning; and ideas for school consultation and wrap around support.
For over 23 years, Ronda Last has worked as a school psychologist in both public and deaf schools. She has helped students of all ages, their families, and their teachers find the understanding and support they need to be successful. Her own personal experience and work with deaf and hard of hearing students provides her with a unique perspective. She recently moved to Wisconsin from California with her husband and three children. Ronda is currently the school psychologist for the Wisconsin School for the Deaf (WSD).
