DHH PLAYGROUPS offer children ages birth to five who are deaf and hard of hearing, their parents, families, and caregivers the opportunity to have fun and learn in a friendly environment that promotes language, early literacy, and social & emotional development. While implementing a Total Communication (TC)* philosophy, DHH Playgroups welcome everyone to participate in play, songs, arts & crafts, stories, and enjoy the experience of getting together!
DHH Playgroups include, circle time, free play, table activities, and group snack time. Activities are presented using sign and spoken language. This is a great time for families who are just beginning to use sign language to practice their skills. While interacting with their children, parents have the opportunity to learn about hearing loss, discover resources, and support each other through chatting with parents, professionals, and members associated with the Deaf and Hard of Hearing communities.
DHH Playgroups are open to families who have children with hearing or speech differences, infant to age 5. Family members, including hearing siblings, are welcome.
$25 annual registration fee. Registrations can be made online or complete the registration form and send by mail. Through play, speech and listening activities, children and parents will learn strategies to support listening skills and spoken language development. Parents will have opportunities to share experiences and questions with other families in a supportive environment.
Sessions focus on aural habilitation (developing language, training in listening, and proper use of hearing device) and include small group, hands-on activities, and “talking points”. Little Listeners is designed to support children (18-36 mos.) with hearing and/or speech differences and their families.

PARENT-N-PARENT (PNP) Networking links parents with parents who have “been there” and have agreed to share their stories, experiences, expertise and advice. PNP connections strive to motivate and empower families to best support their young deaf and hard of hearing children.
Led by a parent facilitator and a deaf educator, parents network with other parents; guest presenters join PNP meetings on occasion; and volunteers play/socialize with the children.

October 29, 2018The purpose of D/HH and Educational Audiologist Program Support Teacher (PST) Meetings is to provide deaf education professionals with updates from the Department of Public Instruction, current information related to topics in deaf education, and opportunities to learn from statewide peers in the field. PST meetings are scheduled several times throughout the year.

DHH PLAYGROUPS offer children ages birth to five who are deaf and hard of hearing, their parents, families, and caregivers the opportunity to have fun and learn in a friendly environment that promotes language, early literacy, and social & emotional development. While implementing a Total Communication (TC)* philosophy, DHH Playgroups welcome everyone to participate in play, songs, arts & crafts, stories, and enjoy the experience of getting together!
DHH Playgroups include, circle time, free play, table activities, and group snack time. Activities are presented using sign and spoken language. This is a great time for families who are just beginning to use sign language to practice their skills. While interacting with their children, parents have the opportunity to learn about hearing loss, discover resources, and support each other through chatting with parents, professionals, and members associated with the Deaf and Hard of Hearing communities.
DHH Playgroups are open to families who have children with hearing or speech differences, infant to age 5. Family members, including hearing siblings, are welcome.
$25 annual registration fee. Registrations can be made online or complete the registration form and send by mail. Send registration payment by mail or in person (online payment is not accepted).* Total Communication (TC) is a philosophy of educating children with hearing loss that incorporates all means of communication; formal signs, natural gestures, fingerspelling, body language, listening, lipreading and speech.

Through play, speech and listening activities, children and parents will learn strategies to support listening skills and spoken language development. Parents will have opportunities to share experiences and questions with other families in a supportive environment.
Sessions focus on aural habilitation (developing language, training in listening, and proper use of hearing device) and include small group, hands-on activities, and “talking points”. Little Listeners is designed to support children (18-36 mos.) with hearing and/or speech differences and their families.
