DHH PLAYGROUPS offer children ages birth to five who are deaf and hard of hearing, their parents, families, and caregivers the opportunity to have fun and learn in a friendly environment that promotes language, early literacy, and social & emotional development. While implementing a Total Communication (TC)* philosophy, DHH Playgroups welcome everyone to participate in play, songs, arts & crafts, stories, and enjoy the experience of getting together!
DHH Playgroups include, circle time, free play, table activities, and group snack time. Activities are presented using sign and spoken language. This is a great time for families who are just beginning to use sign language to practice their skills. While interacting with their children, parents have the opportunity to learn about hearing loss, discover resources, and support each other through chatting with parents, professionals, and members associated with the Deaf and Hard of Hearing communities.
DHH Playgroups are open to families who have children with hearing or speech differences, infant to age 5. Family members, including hearing siblings, are welcome.
$25 annual registration fee. Registrations can be made online or complete the registration form and send by mail. Send registration payment by mail or in person (online payment is not accepted).* Total Communication (TC) is a philosophy of educating children with hearing loss that incorporates all means of communication; formal signs, natural gestures, fingerspelling, body language, listening, lipreading and speech.
