Students ranging from 9th grade through postgraduates are housed on the same floor in Huff Hall. At this age level we highly encourage independence, and the use of their own judgment to address everyday situations that arise. We believe this allows them to succeed and also to make mistakes in a safe environment, where the Residential Advisors are still available to provide support and encouragement, as needed. Our ultimate goal is to ensure that students will utilize learned skills when they leave WSD and venture into the world.
Activities/Daily Schedule
At the High School level, WSD offers a wide variety of after school activities for our students. Such activities include but are not limited to sports, cheerleading, drama, Special Olympics, and work study. All students are allowed the time to attend religious services if they wish to do so. Students also enjoy their free time socializing with friends outside on our beautiful campus, or in the Firebird Recreational Center.
3:10pm: School is dismissed and students return to Huff Hall
3:15pm – 3:30pm: Snacks and free time
3:30pm – 5:30pm: Activities and Athletic practices
5:30pm – 6:00pm: Dinner
6:00pm – 7:00pm: Study Hour
7:00pm – 8:30pm: Free time
8:30pm – 9:30pm: Firebird Center
9:30pm – 10:30pm: Free time
10:30pm – 11:00pm: Lights out
