    Your family is invited to a special summer event! Picnic lunch, covered shelter, play areas, conversation, and fun with families with children of all ages who are deaf, deafblind, or hard of hearing.

    Please bring a dish to pass. Hot dogs, brats, buns, and condiments provided.

    Sign Language Interpreters will be available.

    The Wisconsin Youth Leadership Forum (YLF) is a FREE week-long leadership training and career awareness program for high school students with disabilities.

    Being selected to attend the YLF is a distinct honor that students can be very proud of.

    The Wisconsin Youth Leadership Forum is for:

    • Students who show leadership potential by being active in their school and community
    • Students who have a disability (physical, learning, cognitive, emotional, sensory, etc.)
    • Wisconsin residents
    • Students who are currently sophomores, juniors or seniors

    Why Attend the Youth Leadership Forum?

    • To give you a place to meet other students your age who are experiencing similar issues and concerns
    • To help you increase your leadership skills so you can further your future goals and reach them
    • To assist you in becoming a leader in your school and community.

  • Family Meet & Greet

    July 26, 2018

    FREE event for families of kids with hearing loss - all ages and stages. FREE childcare provided by UW Stevens Point Students. Sign Language, Spanish, Hmong interpretation available upon request. (Need at least two weeks notice.)

    Who Should Attend

    Parents, Children, Extended Family and Siblings!

    Why

    This parent-led event will be fun for the whole family!

    How

    • Children will have fun and tour the Museum, chaperoned by UW Stevens Point students.
    • The adults (parents / extended family / caregivers) will meet in a conference room on the same floor as the kids to network with one another in this area and share experiences / resources as families of kids with hearing loss.
    • We will end our time together by having a story read aloud and signed as we bring kids back together with their parents / caregivers.

  • Deaf Interpreter Training

    This workshop will:

    • include information about the procession,
    • inform you of the RID Code of Professional Conduct,
    • advance your interpreting skills,
    • provide hands-on activities to build your DeafBlind Pro-tactile interpreting skills,
    • teach translation skills from English to ASL and,
    • reformulation and platform interpreting skills.

    This training will satisfy RID's requirement of 40 hours of Certified Deaf Interpreter (CDI) training, and prepare you for the CDI exam. You must attend all class sessions.

    Workshop fee: $300
